Brewster Weather Forecast

For Brewster beaches, parking permits are required from June 15th through the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, from 9 AM to 4 PM daily.

Here's what you need to know about obtaining them:

How to Purchase:

  • Online Only: Permits are primarily sold online at stickers.brewster-ma.gov.
  • Mail-in Request: You can also request permits by mail with cash or check.
  • No In-Person Sales: As of the latest information, there are no in-person sales of permits.

Types of Permits and Fees (as of June 2025):

  • Resident/Taxpayer Permits:
  • First two vehicles per household: $25.00 per permit.
  • Additional vehicles: $40.00 per vehicle.
  • Eligibility: Requires proof of residency (e.g., current year real estate tax bill with a minimum annual bill of $450.00, or a 12-month lease if you live in Brewster year-round and your vehicle isn't registered there). Valid motor vehicle registration for each permit is required, and permits are vehicle-specific.
  • Dependent Children: Eligible if they live with the listed property owner and meet age/ID requirements.
  • Trusts/LLCs: Only named Trustees/LLC members are eligible.
  • Wampanoag Tribal Members: Eligible for Tribal beach parking permits with a copy of their Tribal ID card.
  • Non-Resident (Visitor) Permits:
  • One-day permit: $20.00
  • Full season permit: $150.00
  • These are paperless permits; enforcement is done using license plate reader technology. You can purchase them the day of or in advance of your visit.

Important Notes:

  • Paperless System: Brewster uses a paperless permit system, and enforcement is conducted using license plate reader technology. You do not need to print a physical permit.
  • Non-Refundable: All beach parking permits are non-refundable.
  • Convenience Charge: A convenience charge (3.99% or $1.50, whichever is greater) applies to online purchases.
  • Parking Not Guaranteed: A permit does not guarantee a parking spot at any Town beach or pond, as parking is limited.
  • Violations: Parking without a valid permit incurs a $40.00 fine, strictly enforced by the Brewster Police Department.
  • Dogs: Dogs are generally not allowed on public beaches, tidal flats, landings, and public ponds from May 1 to October 1.
  • Fires/Cookouts: No fires are allowed on any public beaches. Cookouts are only permitted on private beaches with a permit from the Brewster Fire Department.
