Haigis Beach, located where Ocean Drive meets Old Wharf Road in Dennisport, MA, is a small, medium-sized beach on Nantucket Sound. It is known for its high dunes, which give it a more secluded feel than its neighboring beaches. The beach offers gentle surf and soft sand, making it a good option for families.
Parking Information
- Limited Parking: The parking lot at Haigis Beach is small, with only about 35 spaces, and can fill up quickly during peak season.
- Daily Fee: A daily parking fee of $35 is required from the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. This fee is cash-only.
- Weekly & Seasonal Passes: Weekly passes for $100 and seasonal passes (with varying costs for residents and non-residents) are also available and are valid at all public Dennis beaches.
Facilities and Amenities
- Restrooms: Restroom facilities are available.
- Lifeguards: Lifeguards are on duty during the summer season.
- Accessibility: Access to the beach is via a staircase over a rock wall, which may be difficult for people with disabilities. The nearby Glendon Road Beach is a better choice for accessible amenities.
- Dogs: Like all Dennis beaches, dogs are not permitted on the beach, in the parking areas, or in unattended vehicles from the Friday before Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
Given the limited parking and access via stairs, Haigis Beach is often considered a quieter, more local spot compared to larger beaches like West Dennis Beach or Corporation Beach.
