Earle Road Beach
If the busier beaches of Harwich Port feel a bit too high-energy for your mood, Earle Road Beach in West Harwich is the perfect alternative. It’s a classic Nantucket Sound destination that manages to feel a bit more tucked-away and serene than some of its neighbors.

🌊 The Vibe: Nantucket Sound Serenity

Earle Road Beach is defined by its soft, white sand, grass-covered dunes, and iconic rock jetties. Because it’s located on the Nantucket Sound (the "south side" of the Cape), the water is significantly warmer than the Atlantic side, often reaching into the low 70s (21–23°C) in late summer.

  • The Landscape: It’s a medium-sized beach that feels intimate because it’s nestled between stretches of private shoreline. The waves are gentle—more of a "lap" than a "crash"—making it a peaceful spot for a long afternoon with a book.
  • The Crowd: It’s a favorite for families with young children and locals who want to avoid the downtown Harwich Port bustle. It has a loyal following but rarely feels "overrun."

🛶 What to Do There

  • Swimming & Floating: This is the ultimate "floaty" beach. Because the waves are so small, it’s perfect for just drifting in the warm water.
  • Skimboarding: The flat, wet sand at the water's edge makes it one of the better spots in town for kids to practice their skimboarding.
  • Jetty Exploration: The rock jetties are great for spotting small crabs and sea life, but remind your readers to stay within the beach boundaries to avoid stepping onto private property.

🚗 The "Need to Know" Logistics (Parking & Fees)

As with most Harwich beaches, being prepared is key to a stress-free day.

  • The Lot: There is a dedicated parking lot with approximately 88 spaces. While it’s a decent size, it can fill up by 10:30 AM on beautiful July weekends.
  • Parking Fees (2025/2026 Season):
  • Daily Pass: $20 (Earle Road is one of the few Harwich beaches where you can buy a daily pass right at the gate from an attendant).
  • Weekly/Seasonal: $65 for a week or $150 for a non-resident season pass.
  • The "After 4:30" Rule: Parking is generally free after 4:30 PM, making it the perfect spot for a post-dinner walk or a quick sunset dip.
  • Amenities: There are restrooms and portable toilets available, and lifeguards are on duty during the summer season. There is no snack bar here, so you’ll want to pack a cooler.
