Parking Information

  • Resident-Only Parking: Parking at Dowses Beach is primarily for Barnstable residents with a valid beach sticker. Unlike some other Barnstable beaches, non-residents are generally not able to pay a daily fee to park during the day (9 AM to 3:45 PM).
  • Alternative Access: Non-residents can access the beach by arriving on foot or by bicycle.
  • Parking after 6 PM: On busy summer days, parking may become available to the general public after 6 PM, but this is not guaranteed and can be patrolled.
  • Permit Purchase: Resident beach stickers are available for purchase through the Town of Barnstable Recreation Department.

Facilities and Amenities

  • Lifeguards: Lifeguards are on duty during the summer season, typically from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

  • No Concessions: There is no snack bar or concession stand, but ice cream trucks are often present during the summer.
  • Dogs: Dogs are not allowed on the beach from May 15 through September 15.
