You can swim, bask in the sun, walk the two mile coastline between harbors, search for sea shells, fly a kite, or even fish from the Wychmere Harbor jetty.

Bank Street Beach is a popular destination in Harwich Port, known for its soft, "sugar white" sand and its convenient location just a short walk from the shops and restaurants on Main Street. Situated on the Nantucket Sound, it offers some of the warmest ocean water on Cape Cod, typically reaching the low 70s in peak summer, with calm, gentle waves that make it particularly well-suited for families and young swimmers.

  • Facilities and Staff: During the summer season, the beach is monitored by lifeguards and features well-maintained public restrooms and a mobile food or ice cream truck that frequently visits the parking area.
  • Accessibility: The beach is fully handicapped accessible, providing a boardwalk ramp that extends toward the waterline and offering free sand-and-surf beach wheelchairs for visitors to use.
  • Parking and Access: The 60-car parking lot requires a town-issued beach sticker from Memorial Day through Labor Day; notably, daily parking passes are not sold at this location, so visitors must secure a weekly or seasonal pass in advance.
  • Scenic Surroundings: Located between Wychmere Harbor and Allen Harbor, the beach offers views of boats moving in and out of the harbor and panoramic vistas across the sound toward Nantucket.
